The Institute for GOD partners with Christian gap year program, OneLife Institute, to continue discipleship through college.

The Institute for GOD is thrilled to announce our partnership with OneLife Institute, a nine-month gap year program with a discipleship focus.

Thanks to an agreement between leaders from The Institute for GOD and OneLife Institute, OneLife alums are now eligible to receive up to $15,000 in scholarship funds and transfer 30 course credits to The Institute for GOD.

Institute Academic Dean Jeff Sherrod first met to OneLife CEO Josh Beers at an ABHE’s annual meeting. Beers, formerly an enrollment leader at Lancaster Bible College, is passionate about young people answering Jesus’ call to discipleship. Beers believes The Institute for GOD will be an excellent fit for OneLife graduates, whom his staff would personally recommend for our college.

According to OneLife, “We believe God cares more about who students become than where they’re going.

“We formulated our nine-month Gap-Year program to help young adults to wrestle with these questions of vocation, calling, and identity, all in the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. OneLife Students are hand-selected to be in an elite group of young adults who challenge each other and grow together in biblical servant leadership. Essentially, we are grooming the next generation of leaders in the Church and society. They are the people who will make a difference because they are making a difference right now.”

On a student’s nine-month gap year with OneLife, they go on five mission trips and earn college credit through Cairn University. Students engage in ministry to the Native American population, inner-city Philadelphia and even venture to Israel as a part of their experience. The practice of education plus mission is something students can continue exploring through The Institute for GOD, where students spend between 20-40 weeks in the third world as a part of their undergraduate experience. (The Institute is one of only two ABHE schools who guarantees overseas experience for every student.)

“Students are looking for something different from the typical college experience. OneLife graduates who’ve had their eyes opened to living on mission will thrive at our college - I’m very excited about this!”
— President Gregg Garner

OneLife is based out of Manheim, Pennsylvania, but has additional locations in Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Morris, Pennsylvania; Upper Tract, West Virginia; and Central, South Carolina.

Institute President Garner noted, “Students are looking for something different from the typical college experience. OneLife graduates who’ve had their eyes opened to living on mission will thrive at our college - I’m very excited about this!”

The Institute is one of only eight college partners with OneLife, and one of the most affordable options for OneLife graduates. We are excited to partner with OneLife in shepherding young men and women ready to embrace the unconventional and willing to be the biblical leaders God needs for their generation.
