Dining Services Policies
Enrollment and Program Overview
All Full-Time, Traditional Undergraduate Students are required to enroll in the 10 Meal Plan. Off-Campus Students and Part-Time Students may qualify for the 5 Meal Plan, pending approval from Student Services.
Students enrolled in the 10 Meal Plan will receive $125 in Flex Bucks loaded on to their Student ID card. These are available to use throughout the semester in whatever manner they’d like (Snacks, Drinks, a la carte Food). The 5 Meal Plan does not receive any Flex Bucks.
Meal Plans, as part of Student Services, is for the benefit of the enrolled student. It is non-transferable with other individuals and non-refundable.
*All meals* are ordered online through the Institute Dining site - https://i4god.org/dining-services. This system will help us better track student usage and creates a more efficient workflow. There is no in-person ordering for the Meal Plan.
Meals are available for pick-up in the Nyumbarista Coffee Shop during the following Meal Service Windows:
Monday - Friday (Breakfast: 6:30am-7:30am, Lunch: 11am-1pm, Dinner: 5pm-7pm)
Saturday (Brunch: 9am-1pm)
Sunday: CLOSED
At each meal, Students will have the option for an Entree, Side, and a Drink.
Ordering
Students are allowed to order 2 meals during each Meal Service Window.
There is an order limit of 3 meals per day through online ordering. If a student would like a 4th meal, it can be purchased through the same online ordering page with a Credit or Debit card or they can be purchased with Flex Bucks directly from a cashier within Nyumbarista shop hours.
All purchased meals through online ordering (through Flex Bucks or Credit/Debit) will have the same Pick-Up process as the Meal Plan.
If a student would like to purchase 2 meals during one meal service window, then each meal must be processed in different transactions. Any orders that have multiple orders purchased together will be canceled and will not be honored.
The Meal Plan is a personal plan for each student. Students are not permitted to share their personalized student codes with friends or family members.
Student Meal Plans will be loaded with the corresponding meals each week and the weekly meal allotment will reset on Wednesday morning.
Students will process their Meal Plan via our Online Menu that is located on the Institute Dining page or the link listed on the student’s digital ID.
If you have a health issue, disability, or injury that prevents you from coming to the shop to pick up your meal, please contact Student Services, and they will work with your limitations to develop a comprehensive plan for Student Life.
How to Order a Meal
Navigate to the Institute Student Dining website and push the Meal Plan Menu button that will take you to the online ordering page- (https://togoorder.com/web/5617#/). This can easily be saved as a shortcut to launch from the home page of a smartphone, and there is also a link on Student ID cards that can take them there directly.
Click the button “Take Out.” If it is during a Meal Service Window, students may order the Meal to be prepared ASAP. Otherwise, students may Pre-Order any meal that day for pick-up at a time they specify.
Choose your meal and the corresponding drink and side. Add it to your cart.
Click “Check Out.” Choose Pick up time. Enter your call back phone number.
Add your personal Student Code corresponding to the current Meal Plan week.
Click “Complete Order” and a receipt will be sent to your email.
The meal will be prepared by the chosen pick up time. The completed meal will be packaged and labeled for pick-up in the coffee shop. Drinks (and sides if applicable) will be available there to choose from to complete the meal.
**Please note if you are wanting to purchase two meals during the same service time you MUST make two separate transactions using your personal Promo Code. Any orders made with multiple meals will be CANCELED.**
Flex Bucks
Students on the 10 Meal Plan will receive Flex Bucks that can be used during the operation hours of the coffee shop and after hours by using the Grab ‘n Go Self-Service Kiosk.
Any time Nyumbarista is open, Flex Bucks may still be used to purchase any available food, sides, snacks and drink items a la carte that are available and being offered that day.
Students may load more Flex Bucks on their ID card at their discretion. This MUST be done through the Dining Services web portal. ACH and Credit/Debit are the only accepted forms of payment. May take up to 24 hours to process. All Flex Bucks will be reset at the end of each term.
Menus
Every Meal Swipe will offer an Entree, Side, and a Drink. Breakfast will have the option for an Entree and a Specialty Coffee or an Entree, Side, and a Drink.
For each term, there will be Menu 1 and Menu 2. These Menus will alternate each week, and should give some diversity/variety for the students. They will be available to view on the Student Dining website, so students can plan accordingly for their week.
NFS does aim to keep healthy inventory with all of our items - particularly Beverages and Sides. However, with supply issues, we may temporarily have limited options. It is simply the nature of the hospitality industry and it is often beyond our ability to control.
Dietary Restrictions
As a Food Service Provider, we are very accustomed to considering special diets and ingredients. We want to be as accommodating as possible for students.
For that reason, students can customize a meal with subtractive changes. For example, they can choose to get a burger on a bed of greens instead of a Wheat Bun. A student can customize meals in this way at no additional cost.
However, for substitute changes - such as customizing a burger with goat cheese and a GF Bun - there are significantly more costs and attention required from our staff to accommodate. As such, all students are able to sign-up for the Alternative Nutrition Plan (ANP).
At Registration, students may sign up for the Alternative Nutrition Plan for an additional cost.
NFS will compile a list of each ANP enrolled student’s food allergies and create an alternative menu for the ANP students to choose from.
For those ANP students, we will have quality alternatives and substitutes for them available at each meal.
Regardless of dietary restrictions, a Meal Plan is compulsory for Traditional Undergraduate Students, per the Institute policy.
If a student has dietary restrictions that NFS is not able to accommodate, a student must provide a signed letter from their primary care physician, and be approved by Institute Student Services.
An exemption for a student may last for up to two terms (16 weeks).
Dates/Times of Operations
Regular meal service operations are only offered during the Fall and Spring Terms, and are not available during any Winter/Summer intensive courses.
Regular meal service operations are suspended during scheduled Institute breaks:
Spring Break
Fall Break
Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday
During Special Dining Events, 1 per term, the dinner meal will be offered as a part of the Meal Plan. These events do not require students to use a weekly meal count. If a student is unable to attend the full event, then a request for a takeout meal will be required in order to pick up the meal at the event.
Flex Bucks are available for use during all Holidays that the shop is open. The last date to use Flex Bucks is December 10, 2024. Flex Bucks will be reloaded on January 15, 2025 and will be suspended on May 10, 2025.
